Altered Gift Set by GDT Sandi Nagel

 

Hello everyone, Sandy here with my first project for Kraftsupplies4U!

For this Gift Set I altered a mailbox, a ready-made flip book, a card from my stash, and I made the tag mini album from scratch.

 

Making the tag mini album was super easy. Because I left the inside of the mailbox untouched, I chose cardstock in craft color. I cut several tags down to size, ensuring they would fit inside the mailbox, and I used a lace paper punch on every other page and a corner punch in the pages in between. The larger tags were decorated using appliques and trims from the shop. This makes for a pretty presentation and it leaves room for pictures. To hold the tags in place, I punched a hole through one corner of each tag and ran a trim through it. For the front and back covers of the tags, I used Gesso around the ends to give them that shabby appearance. Then decorated front and back with laces, trims and sprays from the KS4U.

 

　

Altering the card was super easy as well. I used the same paper line I used on the rest of the items in my project, to cover up the front of the card. Then I went on to layering coordinating cardstock with trims from the shop. I used a metal piece at the center to accentuate the trims. 　

Altering the ready-made flip book was fun too! I removed the pages from inside the album. I then took some white card stock (to match the white cover of the album) and proceeded in cutting down papers that were to become the waterfall. I covered the waterfall with pretty scrapbook paper, used a paper punch on the bottom of each flap and was done. For the pocket, I used a pocket die, glued the die cut to the inside cover, cut a couple of pieces of paper for tags, and the inside was done! I glued scrapbook paper to the front and back covers and spine. Then I proceeded to decorate the waterfall mini album with trims, laces and other items from KS4U.

　

The cute mailbox that houses the tag mini album is also another altered project. I used coordinating paper to cover the mailbox on all sides. I used Gesso around the edges to make it look shabby and to cover up the craft color from the box. I then proceeded to add trims and laces and bling from the shop.

　

This was a fun project that can be done in a course of a weekend. Altering items with pretty papers, laces, trims and other items from the shop ensure that your results will be spectacular!

Shabby Altered Cigar Box by GDT Mimi C.

Happy Thursday Everyone!  Mimi here and  I am back to share with you all my 2nd and last GDT project for Shabby is Chic Boutique.

 

 

For this project, I decided to alter a cigar box that I've had in my stash for quite some time.  And what a transformation it has taken!  I finally was able to use Prima's "Tales of You and Me" collection to cover my entire box after sanding, painting, & inking all the edges.  Then came the fun part...using all the beautiful trims, laces, and embellishments from SCB!  On the top of the cigar box, I first laid down some of the clustered rose embroidered trim on the top and bottom to give the box somewhat of a frame and a base to layer my 2 flower clusters in the top left corner and bottom right corner of the lid. 

 

 

 The main focal piece in the top left corner flower cluster is one of the beautiful foam roses in ivory.  I also incorporated a piece of the butterfly dangle lace in the other cluster to give it a bit more interest.  As you can see, there is a abundance of flowers on this project which went perfectly with the clustered rose embroidered lace from SCB.  I did add stickles to all the flowers to give it more sparkle as well as add an ornate frame toward the upper portion of the lid that has been spray painted in gold to match the gold in all the hardware. 

 



Right below the edge of the lid, there is almost a perfect 4mm slant (about a 45 degree angle) that I added the 4mm pink flatback pearl trim to and goes around the entire top of the box.  I then adhered the folded tulle trim in white along the lid on 3 sides, excluding the back, with the white flatback 5-row strand acrylic trim on top. 

 



 

 

The 5-row flatback acrylic trim is only adhered to the 2 sides of the lid so that the lace would lay flatter on top of the latch hardware on the front side of the box.  I love how the folded tulle trim makes the altered box look so soft and feminine.

Altered Gift Box by GDT Jen E.

Good morning friends, Jen here today with my first Guest Design post for Shabby is Chic Boutique on Zibbet.

Today I have made a gift box.

 

 

 

Before assembling the box I added some light weight tissue type fabric to the side panels

 

Then I assembled the box...

 

 

Next, I added trims and some gorgeous lace from Shabby is Chic Boutique on Zibbet.

 

Lastly, the finishing and most exciting touches... the BOW and TASSLE!!

 

WHAT A STUNNING ACCENT!

Altered Cigar Box by DT Member Jeanne

Hi crafty friends! Jeanne here to share with you this adorable cigar box I  created for Shabby is Chic Boutique on Facebook.

I altered this box to put some of my laces that I like to hoard!

 

  I began with white gesso all along the outer edges of the box and the entire inside. Then I painted to inside with "Craft Smart Light Pink Paint" which I let it dry and then chose the papers I wanted to use for this box.

 

 I used paper from the Recollections 12 x 12 "Budapest" collection. I really liked the pink/gold combination!  I papered the entire outside of the box with the paper. The window design on this paper remind me of windows you would see at a beautiful church or cathedral! I then decoupaged that beautiful napkin with adorable angels on the inside lid that I had received in a pocket letter from Amy Love! I used thin pink & gold ribbon to make "frame" around the picture. After letting it all dry, I sprayed the inside and the lid of the box with Lindy's "Cactus Gold" glitz spray. I then let it air dry a few hours before I began decorating the outside.

 

 

 

 

I already had in mind which laces I would use from the Shabby Is Chic Boutique. So I began by running the beautiful soft pink lace trim around the entire box. Then added some of the thin Chinese braided trim around the edge of the bottom and on the top I only added a piece along the front and on back of the box. I then adhered the adorable Rose Gold/ Rhinestone Bow from the shop as well with E6000. I added some small iridescent hearts on every other flower pattern of the pink lace, all around the box.

 

After the outside of the box was decorated, I began on the lid. I first adhered the wide flat back ivory Pearl trim from Shabby Is Chic Boutique around the top of the lid. I had a window chipboard piece  in my stash which I embossed using gold embossing powder. I then cut a small piece of pink lace and added it to the chipboard and adhered it to the center of the box. I added a cluster of paper flowers to the right corner of this window. I then added some stamens and used pieces of a rhinestone & Pearl strand for added accent. I then adhered the small white cherub to the center of the window. The final touch was a crystal knob to open the box and some wooden beads painted white  to the bottom of the box to hold it up.

 

  I hope that you will be inspired to use up those cigar boxes in your stash and use them as beautiful storage décor for your craft room.

Shabby Topiary Tree by Guest DT Kim N.

Hello crafty friends! I am so happy to share with you my 2nd project as Guest Designer for Shabby is Chic Boutique for June. This is my upcycled topiary tree, hope you enjoy it!

 

 

I started with an urn that I got at a second hand store. I applied a coat of gesso and then painted light pink, and then added a thin layer of white milk paint to. I hit the textured areas of the urn with rose gold Metallic Lustre. I then decorated the urn with some of the dangle laces, pearl trim, and a flower appliqué that I sprayed pink from Shabby is Chic Boutique.

 

For the topiary itself, I built it out of a Styrofoam ball that I covered with pink lace. I then glued the gorgeous foam roses from SCB all over the ball randomly. I added some of the pearl stamens from the store and some leaves from my stash.

 

 I gessoed a wooden dowel and then covered it with pink seam binding from SCB to hold the topiary ball. At the top, I added a piece of bling from my stash, organza ribbon, seam binding and rhinestone cup chain from SCB to hang down.

 

 

I had a great time making this and still have another matching urn that I am excited to upcycle.

Pretty Baby Girl Ensemble by DT Member Suzie Crafter

 

Good morning friends, Suzie Crafter here today with my pretty baby girl ensemble, made with lots of Shabby is Chic Boutique items!

 

 

For this project, I've designed and altered a pair of leather baby booties. They were painted pink and altered with the pearl finish pink embroidered lace. I then used the white braided trim, which accented the shoe, and the pear shaped flat back rhinestone from SCB. I used some marabou boa  seam binding and white pearl trim from my stash to finish it off.

They truly are adorable!

 

 

 

For lace as the embroidered flower tulle for the base, and added the white bow tie organza flower applique as the tie off to the book.  I used some seam binding on both sides, trimming the book with the flat back pearls in pink and white, then adorned with one of my handmade roses and a 3" Rolled Satin Ivory Rose from the store!

 

 

 

Lastly, for the pouch, I've created this pouch by altering a muslin bag that was sent to me by Amy with products inside. I thought it would be fun to alter so I added the embroidered flower tulle lace to the base of the bag and then ruffled out the 2" pink scalloped lace trim. That trim was just perfect as it is beautiful and stiff enough to stand out ruffled!
