Shabby Heart and Pin Cushion by DT Member Heidi

Hello Heidi here today to share my very first DT Project for Shabby is Chic Boutique on Zibbet.

 

Of course in February the majority of us turn to hearts, flowers and chocolate but my February includes beautiful laces, trim and pretty things from Amy Love at Shabby is Chic Boutique .

 

 

 

Below my very first design team project, created from a paper mache’ “puffy” heart I painted with gesso and layered a beautiful pink lace from SCB. Following that up with a finely stitched pink trim and multi strand  flat back pearl trim and other pearl bling.



 

 

 

 



Listed after this heart you’ll see a pincushion upcycled from an old tin I had, I layered it with rosette trim and box pleat trim from SCB I also found a gorgeous gimp trim and bridal applique and more pearl from the store.



 

 

I need to mention as well the donation of buttons and butterfly from two very special women to me, Bonnie, Michelle, thanks ladies, you are wonderful. xx

No Sew Pretty Girl Pillow by Kim

Good morning Shabby is Chic Boutique Fans! I have a fun and easy project here today for you today.

 

 

I have created this no sew pillow with some fabric from my stash and lots of laces and trims from Shabby is Chic Boutique. But the gorgeous girl in the center is really the star of the show. I used this Pretty Girl Applique from SCB.

 

 

I surrounded the girl with this pretty rose trim from SCB, which goes all the way around her to frame her nicely.

 

 

I created a rolled rose out of some sheer fabric I had in my stash, and added a pearl and rhinestone bling to the center. I added this to her hair for some fun and dimension.

 

I used Fabri-Tac Glue to make my pillow square and then added lace fabric from my stash to cover the pillow.

 

I just love this Pretty Girl Applique from SCB!! I have to get more, as I have a few friends who would like this pillow as well, but I think she would also be great on a T-shirt, apron, wall hanging, or even a tote bag. She would be versatile for so many  projects.

Fabric Image Folder by DT Member Maggie White

 

Good morning, Maggie here today to share with you my next DT project for Shabby is Chic Boutique on Zibbet.

 

This time I have made a Fabric Image Folder

 

 

First,  I covered the front and back of the fabric folder with a piece of Victorian Pink embroidered fabric.  I added the heart dangle trim to the bottom. (I cut the top off of the dangle trim so just the heart shapes were at the top) I then added the embroidered white rose lace around the top and sides.

 

I took pieces of the rhinestone chain and added one to each rose in the trim as well as one in the middle of each heart on the dangle trim.

 

To the middle of the front I added two doilies and then added a small image on top.  Lastly, I pulled the crystal buckle together with a ribbon bow and attached that to the bottom of the image.

 

 

I covered the 2 pages with a white embroidered fabric.  I added the pink trim to the lower part and then the dainty dangle trim and the white tassel trim to the bottom.  I then added a piece of the butterfly dangle trim to each lower side of the page.  I glued an acrylic heart and (3) 2m rhinestones to each butterfly.  The images were added o a vintage curtain applique and then glued to the middle of each page.

Handmade Cards by DT Member Maggie

Hello all, Maggie here today to share with you my cards that I have made for Shabby is Chic Boutique on Facebook.

 

 

"Let Them Eat Cake"

 

For this first card, I adhered the two background papers to the card base and then I added the title square and outlined the paper pieces in black felt fine tip pen. Next, I glued the lace trim and flat back pearls to the bottom of the card.  Over that I glued the Venise Lace piece to which I added the small piece of the pink bridal trim and the rhinestone cameo.

 

"If the Crown Fits"

 

 

The papers were done the same way as the first card and lined in the black pen, then  I then added the pink trim and white braid to the bottom.  Lastly, I glued the butterfly and heart applique and pink pearls.

 

"A Woman Can Be Overdressed..."

 

Again, the papers were one in the same way as the other cards and lined in the black pen.  I then glued the butterfly trim to the bottom and the heart applique to the top.  Lastly, added the pink pearls where shown.

Stacked Wedding Cake Boxes by DT Member Jeanne

Hi crafty friends, Jeanne here today! I'm very happy to be a part of this great design team, and love all the products over at Shabby Is Chic Boutique on Facebook!

This is my 1st design team project for the month of June!

 

 

This faux wedding cake was fun to alter. I used some nesting boxes I had previously purchased, I painted the bottom & inside with pink acrylic paint. I then used some beautiful papers from Craft & You " Vintage Time". I distressed then papered the outside, lid and the inside of the boxes.

 

 I then used trims from Shabby Is Chic Boutique as well as bling . I made a stand using a mirror and a candle holder, which I decorated as well.

 

Lastly, I lined the outside of the mirror with lace from my stash and used a beautiful bling piece on front and some Rhinestone & pearl trim on the candle holder.

Altered Dressform by DT Member Liza

 

Good morning friends, Liza here today to share with you my altered dress form for Shabby is Chic Boutique on Facebook.

 

 

For my debut project for Shabby is Chic Boutique, I altered a dress form. 

 

 

 I began with applying gesso to the dress form and then after it dried, I used some linen wide trim from my stash to "dress" her. 

 

 

 I used several pieces from SCB to embellish her outfit and finished her attire using lovely pink seam binding. 

 

 

 

 I love how it came out as the products from the Shabby is Chic Boutique store really made it fun to design her outfit.

Pretty Baby Girl Ensemble by DT Member Suzie Crafter

 

Good morning friends, Suzie Crafter here today with my pretty baby girl ensemble, made with lots of Shabby is Chic Boutique items!

 

 

For this project, I've designed and altered a pair of leather baby booties. They were painted pink and altered with the pearl finish pink embroidered lace. I then used the white braided trim, which accented the shoe, and the pear shaped flat back rhinestone from SCB. I used some marabou boa  seam binding and white pearl trim from my stash to finish it off.

They truly are adorable!

 

 

 

For lace as the embroidered flower tulle for the base, and added the white bow tie organza flower applique as the tie off to the book.  I used some seam binding on both sides, trimming the book with the flat back pearls in pink and white, then adorned with one of my handmade roses and a 3" Rolled Satin Ivory Rose from the store!

 

 

 

Lastly, for the pouch, I've created this pouch by altering a muslin bag that was sent to me by Amy with products inside. I thought it would be fun to alter so I added the embroidered flower tulle lace to the base of the bag and then ruffled out the 2" pink scalloped lace trim. That trim was just perfect as it is beautiful and stiff enough to stand out ruffled!

Shabby Wall Hanging by DT Member Karen

Hi Everyone, Karen here with my final design team project

for Shabby is Chic Boutique. As my term is now up and Amy will be announcing the new team tomorrow here on the blog, so stay tuned for that!

Today, I have made a wall plaque in very subtle and muted tones

using lots of items that are available from the store.

 

 

 

I started of with an 8" wide Chipboard circle

I painted it both sides with a coat of gesso and then covered the front of it with 

a postal script napkin and once dried added a whitewash of white acrylic paint to mute it slightly.

I then added the v shaped scalloped lace and finally to add that extra softness to the plaque

I added a soft scalloped lace behind it.

To tidy up the edge I added white 4mm pearl trim which worked a treat.

 

 

The decoration I pulled out a lot of elements from my design team kit and also a vintage image that I had printed off from Pinterest.

I placed everything on to get my layout and see how I liked it all on the plaque before gluing anything down.

I added the heart applique then added my image which I then went around with the v shaped trim but, I did cut it down the center to make it much neater and finally added 3mm white flatback pearls to it.

 

I absolutely loved the metal wings from my kit and knew I wanted to use one of them also so I started adding thin layers of white acrylic paint until I was happy with the coverage to embellish it further I added rhinestones and small spots of stickles glitter glue in Cotton Candy (colour).

I then decided to add the butterfly's to the corners of the image and used the rhinestone trim to emphasis the body and rhinestones for the antennae, lastly to finish off the from I added 2 floral appliques layered with 2 leafs from one of the dangle trims and to carry on with the colour from the metal wing I added a good layer of the stickles to add the pink colour and finished it off with one of the flower centers and some rhinestone tassels.

 

 

I am fairly particular with my projects and feel unless the back is finished off properly too the project isn't finished! So, to the reverse

I added a large doily and then went around the edge with another white gathered trim from my stash and added in a lace pocket, and used a loop braid to show where the pocket is at first glance. To carry on the theme from the front to the back I added the butterflies once again and finally, added the small seam binding loop on the top to hang the project.

Shabby Blue Book Box by DT Member Kim C.

 

Welcome to this weeks project!

I have altered a wooden book box.

I have used some new and old items for Shabby is Chic Boutique on this box.

 

 

 

This first thing I did was gesso the whole box.  I then added pattern paper, which I love the brown and blue together.  I took the blue paper and curled it back to show a paper doily, a small fabric doily, a metal key, a small ivory rose resin piece, and a flat back pearl heart.  I then added a large applique along with some flat back self adhesive pearl trim.

 

 

I then decorated on top of the applique with some paper flowers, dangle trim, heart shaped wooden button, a flat back pearl heart, more ivory resin roses, an organza fabric flower, leave appliques, metal spoon, a rose colored metal bow and some pearl garland trim.

 

 

I then added some lace trim, pearl trim and resin rose pieces to what would be the pages of a book.  I then added some dangle trim and pearl trim to the spine of the book.

 

 

I love the way this book box turned out.  I hope you like what I have created this week.  I have one more project to go before my term is up.  I have so much enjoyed being apart of the Shabby is Chic Boutique Design Team.  I would like to thank Amy Love for asking me to be apart of it.
