Shabby Altered Cigar Box by GDT Mimi C.

Happy Thursday Everyone!  Mimi here and  I am back to share with you all my 2nd and last GDT project for Shabby is Chic Boutique.

 

 

For this project, I decided to alter a cigar box that I've had in my stash for quite some time.  And what a transformation it has taken!  I finally was able to use Prima's "Tales of You and Me" collection to cover my entire box after sanding, painting, & inking all the edges.  Then came the fun part...using all the beautiful trims, laces, and embellishments from SCB!  On the top of the cigar box, I first laid down some of the clustered rose embroidered trim on the top and bottom to give the box somewhat of a frame and a base to layer my 2 flower clusters in the top left corner and bottom right corner of the lid. 

 

 

 The main focal piece in the top left corner flower cluster is one of the beautiful foam roses in ivory.  I also incorporated a piece of the butterfly dangle lace in the other cluster to give it a bit more interest.  As you can see, there is a abundance of flowers on this project which went perfectly with the clustered rose embroidered lace from SCB.  I did add stickles to all the flowers to give it more sparkle as well as add an ornate frame toward the upper portion of the lid that has been spray painted in gold to match the gold in all the hardware. 

 



Right below the edge of the lid, there is almost a perfect 4mm slant (about a 45 degree angle) that I added the 4mm pink flatback pearl trim to and goes around the entire top of the box.  I then adhered the folded tulle trim in white along the lid on 3 sides, excluding the back, with the white flatback 5-row strand acrylic trim on top. 

 



 

 

The 5-row flatback acrylic trim is only adhered to the 2 sides of the lid so that the lace would lay flatter on top of the latch hardware on the front side of the box.  I love how the folded tulle trim makes the altered box look so soft and feminine.

Fairy Lace Canvas by Kim Fuller

Good morning friends, and happy Friday. I am sharing today my fairy lace canvas for Shabby is Chic Boutique on Zibbet.

 

 

This is a simple and easy project to do, and it uses up lots of lace fragments from your stash. If you are like me, you have lots of left over laces from other projects, and well, also I do tend to hoard them a bit ;)

 

So, lets get started!

 

Firstly, I am using mainly laces from Shabby is Chic Boutique. This first lace in the photo below is a gorgeous two toned stretch lace, I used some of my sprays to colour the lace a similar colour to the dress that the fairy image is wearing.

 

 

I began on one side of the 5'' x 7'' canvas, and layered on one lace after another. I did not bother to cut the laces to make them even, I wanted it to have a vintage and tattered look.

 

 

I used the gorgeous butterfly dangle trim from SCB, which you can see in the photo above, and kept layering on other beautiful laces and trims, some that I sprayed and some were already the colours that I wanted. I kept layering on until I was happy with how it looked. I glued everything down with FabriTac Glue.

Once I had the rows of laces done. I used this beautiful white floral applique from SCB and placed it in the bottom right corner of the canvas.

 



 

On top of the applique, I placed this stunning pearl and bling piece also from SCB.

 

 

I then used some of my Prima Leaves, which I glittered up with silver glitter. I wanted my fairy to look magical and have some sparkle!



 

 

I used double sided foam tape on the back of my fairy. She was a free image I got from The Graphics Fairy.  I used some more glue on top of the tape to make sure she was glued down well.

Once she was in place, I decided to add this amazingly beautiful pearl and bling crown from Shabby is Chic Boutique. I just adore this bling piece, it really sparkles and add dimension.

 



 

Next up I wanted to add an initial to the bottom left corner of the canvas. This canvas is going to a dear friend of mine for her birthday, and I wanted to personalize it with her initial.

I painted the wooden letter, which is from Fernli Designs.

 



 

Once the paint was dry, I added more of the silver glitter to it, to pick up on the glitter in the fairies wings.

 

 

....And here she is. I hope my friend will love her as much as I do.

Vintage Parisian Wall Hangings by DT Member Kim

 

 

Good morning friends, Kim here today to share with you my latest project for Shabby is Chic Boutique on Facebook. This time I have made a couple of wall hangings inspired by Paris!

 

 

I used 4 x 5 inch canvas boards for this project. I started off with some script paper from my stash as a back ground and then got out some of the Paris Napkins from SCB, which you can see below.

 

 

 

I fussy cut out the Eiffel Tower, and the post mark and some script from these two napkins and adhered them on top of the script paper. After that, I applied some sprays and also some crackle medium to make the whole piece look aged and very vintage. I kept layering on sprays to get inside the cracks until I was happy with the result.  I also used some gelatos to give highlights to the Eiffel Tower and some colour to the background.

 

 

After the base was dry, I decided to try my hand at making some roses out of texture paste. It was a lot easier than I thought, just taking a palette knife and making some swirls. I used more of the same sprays to get some colour on the roses, and as a final touch, added some micro beads for further texture.

 

 

 

I wanted to have a nice focal point at the top of the piece, so I used some of the IOD moulds from Prima and some air dry clay to make the top pieces. Once dry, I used some of the Art Alchemy paints to give them some colour and I then added a beautiful cameo from Shabby is Chic Boutique Store to the top.

 

 

 

 Finally, I added some of the gorgeous aqua tulle trim from SCB to the bottom of the wall hangings and some jute twine to the top so I could hang them up on my wall.

Altered Art Journal Cover by Jeanne Rodriguez

Hi crafty friends! Jeanne here sharing my latest project for Shabby Is Chic Boutique! I have been wanting to alter a couple of Art Journals that I have in my stash before I began actually journaling in them. I'm happy to share what I have done with my first one which is a 5X7 chipboard cover & watercolor paper on the inside. (Here is what it looks like in a bigger size, forgot to take a before picture of the one I altered)

I began by choosing what papers I wanted to use along with the products that would go perfect with this project. I decided on using some papers from The Authentique "Classique: Beauty" collection. I lined the page with a darker color from the collection first, I then added the Ivory flat back pearl trim from SCB around most of the page, I then added one of the beautiful white wide laces and one of the black Venice lace trims from the shop as well. After I did that I cut to size one of the beautiful flowered papers from that same paper collection, I sprayed some water and gathered it up to the side. ( I was inspired by Marilyn Riveras work). Once that dried I moved to the inside where I knew I couldn't make it too bulky so I only added my papers, I made a small pocket, to insert some ephemera or journal tags, etc..I had forgot to add my ribbon closure so I just added it to the inner page then added a small crochet doily from Michaels dollar section. Then just added a small butterfly chipboard from I believe came from the Prima "Princess" collection, not positive. I lined the back as well just the same as the front.

I then focused on the cover where I added a little piece of cheese cloth to sit behind this small Prima frame, I added a pic that I cut out from the Prima "Princess " collection. I then added my flowers, I had the light and darker purple ones in my stash but realized I had no black spray or bigger black flowers, no I used some Ivory paper flowers that I have quite a bit of and just painted them with my Lindy's Magicals in "Midnight Rendezvous color" which I love how they turned out. Dried with the heat gun and started gluing them down with fabri tac, starting with some Pearl sprays then the flowers. I added stickles one all the flowers but the black. As well as adding stickles here and there on the picture itself. I added another chipboard from the princess collection as my title on the page "Beautiful Inside & Out" Lastly I added some black teardrop pearls on the top and bottom so it wouldn't look blank there.

I really hope that you all can break out colors that you might not think you would work with, you would be surprised how much I ended up loving this even if purple isn't my kinda color! I am anxious to alter my other journal. I will definitely let you know whenever I do that! Now, time to start art journaling!! Hope you all are having a wonderful summer! See you in August!! Shabby Mixed Media Art by DT Member Kim

Good morning Shabby is Chic Boutique fans. Today I am doing something fun and different with my lovely items from Shabby is Chic Boutique Store. 

 

 

As you can see I have created these 4 x 5 inch canvases, using lots of mixed media and items from the SCB store. I started off with using this  gorgeous rose napkin from the store. I cut out some of the roses, and also used some of my Prima paper, which I tore into pieces as well, and then adhered it down to the canvas with matte medium.

 

 

Once the glue was dry, I too some of my embossing paste and gave a texture coat with it in various spots on the canvas to create dimension.

 

Now it was time to play with my embellishments. I used the Love Key from SCB, and also the small spoon with crown. I am also using lots of Prima Clay items that I created using the IOD moulds. I gave the all a coat of gesso and then used some sprays and the Prima Metallic Paint in Rose Gold on top. The final touch was spritzing them with water and adding some Carmel alcohol inks to make them look more dimensional.

 

 

Now it is time to start layering on the pieces to the canvas. I also added the heart doily and the white mini doily from SCB.

 

My finishing touch was adding some micro beads to the canvas to add more texture, and I also added some gorgeous Prima flowers as well.

 

 

The gorgeous little girl cabochons in the middle of the canvas are also from SCB!
